Efficiency Vermont is here to help you identify the most cost-effective ways to reduce energy use in your home or business. Your energy efficiency investments will pay off now and in the future, by reducing your energy costs, strengthening our economy and protecting our environment.
The Vermont Business Materials Exchange ( is a free service that seeks to reduce waste by promoting the exchange of reusable commercial materials. Through VBMX, companies with surplus or by-product materials connect with other businesses or individuals who can reuse these materials productively.

Pollution Prevention (P2) has become the preferred environmental management strategy for both businesses and government. The prevention of waste at the source before it is created and substitution of non-toxic materials, where possible, benefits the environment AND your budget.

The Small Business Compliance Assistance Program (SBCAP) was created to assist Vermont's regulated community in achieving compliance with environmental regulations and promoting cooperation between the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the regulated community.

The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) is a not-for-profit center that provides consulting and training to help manufacturers improve operations, increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve competitiveness.
The Vermont Small Business Development Center's Regulatory Assistance Program offers free and confidential environmental opportunity assessments focusing on identifying energy conservation, waste reduction and resource conservation opportunities to both save business money and promote a cleaner environment. Additionally, we offer low cost, high quality training seminars on a range of environmental, health and safety topics.

Project WorkSAFE seeks to work with the employer to maintain safe working standards. Employers invite Project WorkSAFE staff to inspect their facilities, list a summary of hazards, and provide assistance in hazard correction. The employer avoids any citations or penalties, but is required to correct all hazards discovered during the inspection. These services are confidential.

Vermont's Green Hotels are using sound environmental management practices to reduce their impacts on the environment, improve their bottom line and satisfy customer demand for environmentally conscious lodging establishments.

The Green Hotels in the Green Mountain State program provides assistance to Innkeepers desiring to achieve these goals.

The Vermont Green Building Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing Vermont’s participation in green building and to promoting the environmental, financial, community, and health benefits of green design, construction, and building operation practices. We are builders, designers, developers, policy makers, service providers, and other building industry professionals working together to improve building practices in Vermont.
Vermont Environmental Consortium is a nonprofit organization that helps green enterprises achieve their goals. Its 65 member businesses, educational institutions, and public agencies work together to build the green enterprise sector and to promote sound environmental stewardship. VEC helps Vermonters and clients locate environmental products and services with its 1,300-entry database.
Kilawatt has developed new electricity-saving paradigms, diagnostic technologies and data management/executive presentation software into a replicable service--the Kilawatt Electricity Conservation System--proven in commercial and institutional buildings.
The Association of Vermont Recyclers is a non-profit organization providing technical assistance, training, and consulting to Vermont and New England businesses on solid and hazardous waste. AVR's areas of expertise include recycling and composting programs; improving indoor air quality; waste stream audits; waste disposal costs reduction; employee training; carbon footprint reduction; environmentally preferable cleaning practices; and "Green Team" support.
