Dreamcast Motherboard Schematics:

Information:
For hardware development purposes on the Sega Dreamcast it's important to understand the internal circuitry of the unit. Schematics of the Dreamcast hardware would be extremely useful to those involved in hardware development and Dreamcast repair. The only way to create schematics will be to 'reverse engineer' by measuring continuity between connections (ie. solder pads, IC pins etc.).

The functions of the Integrated Circuits can be determined by the available datasheets, however proprietary IC's will be much harder to disect and fully realize their modes of operation. I will symbolize the proprietary chips on the schematics as they appear on the Dreamcast motherboard (for instance with the Audio Out Schematic I created a 100 (30x20 pins) TFPQ package to represent the sound processor).

As of May 2007 the task of mapping out the Dreamcast circuitry is far from complete, however I have proposed help from the members of DCemulation.com and I am welcome to contributions.

If you would like to help with this project, feel free to download the .sch (EagleCAD) files and edit them with the FREE EagleCAD Schematic/Layout Editor. You can also create your own for the portion of the Dreamcast you are interested in. Make sure to label the schematic, and the type/revision/region of the Dreamcast motherboard you created the schematic from.

NOTE: There are many different Hardware Revisions of the Dreamcast motherboard, which use several different types of components, ie RAM etc, which vary by year/region etc.
