As I walked into Arts Riot I felt an electricity in the air that could only be produced by the friction of bodies in a dinner rush. The aesthetic of the menu reflected the sparse glamor that the building embodies--everything rustic and modern all at once. There were few items on the menu, which is generally a bad sign for a vegan diner, but I was delighted to find a winter squash curry with wild rice on the menu. It reminded me of things that I loved about growing up in Vermont--it tasted like a warm fire on a cold day--but married in flavors more exotic in nature.
The bar selection is good for Burlington--I had a shot of Fernet Branca and a Switchback, and the bartender winked at me as he gave me my drinks. The highlight of my night, though, was listening to some low-key live electronic music while I enjoyed my meal. The verdict? Would go back, with a date next time.
