Home of The VTC Hockey Club
The Hockey Club is open to students from the VTC community. The club has been in existence for 5 years. Each year the club has expanded in not only the number of players, but the quality of play. The club is funded through ASVTC, the College's student government.
The Club is meant to be fun. Many of the players have a strong hockey background, while others are playing for the heck of it. The club uses two rinks, Norwich University's Kreitzberg Arena and Montpelier's Central Vermont Civic Center, both within a half an hour's drive from the campus. The club practices once a week, usually in the evening, and plays 8 to 10 games throughout the first and second semesters. Team members also volunteer their time at the local Randolph outdoor rink. Players help to clean the ice, coach younger players, and even sharpen skates with the club's sharpener.
The 99-00 season has been good to the team. The team is currently 4-3 and is gearing up for the National Small College Tournament that will be held in Berlin, NH, in March. Highlights for the team included outstanding individual performance by Morgan Butler, a Middlebury, VT, native, who scored in each game in the first semester; also, VTC achieved its first victory ever against Castleton State College, one of our sibling schools in the Vermont State Colleges system.
