Softball in the Olympics?

For as long as I can remember I have wished that softball could lead to something outside of college. It seemed that if you really wanted to get anywhere in sports that you either had to pick a sport that was continuing into the Olympics or you had to be male. Women have struggled over the years for equality in sports and it is improving. Especially with the addition of softball into the Olympics.

The USA softball team was introduced to the world in 1996. Olympic softball consists of eight teams from all around the world.

The teams were from:

In the 1996 Olympics the softball games started on July 21st. The way they were played was they switched around with the teams. A round-robin sort of thing. On July 28th the top four teams advanced to the medal rounds. The gold went to the United States. The Silver went to China, and the Bronze went to Australia.

When I heard that the Olympics were now going to have softball, I was so happy. It gives some motivation to the girls in college and even high school something to hope for. Something to look forward to after you have gone as far as you think you can go.

The USA softball team will be in the Olympics for years to come and in the year 2000 , and in the XXVII Olympiad Softball will be a participant. Tryout Procedures for softball Olympics are still unknown.
