ARSON ROBOT PROJECT

 

TEAM MEMBERS (ANDREW HOLLYER, TIM CROWLEY, MATT BOYDEN)

 

 

We are designing a robot to assist in State Police Arson investigations. The robot must be able to navigate inside a burned building over rubble and debris. It also must hold a Hydro-Carbon Sniffer and be able to transmit sound to the user outside the building. The robot must be able to take samples of charred material as well to be tested in the lab for accelerants.

  • ON 4/20/05, I PUT TOGETHER AN ASSEMBLY OF THE FRAME AND CHASSIS OF THE ROBOT IN INVENTOR

  • FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS OF THE PROJECT, WE WERE UNABLE TO GET AHOLD OF OUR CLIENT. THIS PREVENTED US FROM SEEING, AND MEASURING THE HYDROCARBON SNIFFER AND THEREFORE WE DID NOT GET TO DESIGN AND BUILD A MOUNT FOR IT YET.

These drawings have little or no tolerances, as with the prototype development, we did not worry too much about fits.

It turns out that our lack of worrying about fits made for quite a few complications in the end.
