Problem Background: |
n-Scientists
benefit from computer assisted robots
with imaging capabilities to locate “hot spots” to
explore.
-nThese
robots allow researchers to analyze sites of
interest that were never previously accessible to people
safely.
n
-The National Science Foundation has funded
scientists to utilize robots to explore the Ancient city
of Ambeida in Western Egypt.
|
|
Constraints: |
n
-Design a small compact vehicle, that must go up a
45 degree angle.
n
-Navigate on sand, stone, and mud-brick surfaces.
n
-Maneuver over “rubble,” and other debris.
-nSend
data to/from P-C and robot wirelessly.
|
|
Our Solution: |
l
n
-A “rugged” tracked vehicle, capable of traversing
the desert terrain.
-nWireless
(IR) communication, image transmission,
relay pods, “eggs,” to boost range.
-n“Smart”
control, to handle obstacles and
navigation.
